| When the mail arrived
that day I was overjoyed, my heart was "beating fast" and I was so
excited!! I shared with Annie my caregiver at the time, the letter I had
received from the Salvation Army. They found my sister I thought how
wonderful. I called to get a phone number and it was given to me and I
picked up my phone so excited as it rang would my sister Madeline
answer the phone? All kinds of thoughts raced uncontrollably through my
mind.
Then there was an answer after
what seemed like a hundred rings. A man answered and I asked him was
he married to a woman named Madeline Babcock was that her name
before she married him? He said yes it was and I explained how Madeline,
may be my missing sister, he told me his wife was at work and would not
be home till about six PM.
It was a long day and a very
restless one wondering?? Finally at last I may have found her. Her
husband was very nice and said his birthday was coming up in July on
July 4th to be exact he would be 71. I thought to my self how strange
that was because it was my mother's birthday and it would be just like
LYNN (Madeline) to marry a fellow with the same birthday as her mom.
I could hardly wait for six
o'clock to get here it was going to be a long day. It was a day I
will never forget. I called back right at six and she had not arrived home
yet. I waited another 15 minutes and dialed the number, a woman's voice
answered, I said Lynn? She said who? I said is this Madeline she said
yes, I asked her if she had been married to a Larry Babcock she said no
not a Larry but a Donald I think? and divorced him years before. I told
her my sister Madeline Babcock had been missing and I was hoping I may
have at last found her. Madeline was very nice and said she was sorry
and wished she was my sister so I could have peace in my heart.
I thanked her for talking to me
and set the phone down in slow motion. I started to cry, seems as
though I would never stop. I looked up and there was my faithful friend,
and caregiver crying with me. Annie came over to me and gave me a hug
of reassurance, that all would be ok. It was a tough night to sleep that
night. I just thought well the search "MUST" go on. There were other
letters to write and much more to do. God was not ready to reveal her
whereabouts to me yet. That was in June of 1994 still searching, still
hoping someday for an answer. I miss Madeline we always sang and
played Guitar together.
It's so lonesome without her I
still sing the songs we used to sing but their not the same with out
you Madeline wherever you are. I love you sister of mine always will.
